The Mother Series

In celebration of motherhood, The Mother series has been inspired. I dedicate this new series to my maternal grandmother, the late Mrs. Mattie B. Maddox, Bigmama, as her grandchildren call her. I was so blessed to have Bigmama well into my forties. She passed her strength on to me. As I grow older, I appreciate and value her role in my life more each day. Her words of strength still speak to me. "You ain't seen nothin yet, just keep on living." "Don't be surprised by what any man says or does. You're gonna be alright." Okay, Bigmama.

My Father lost his mother at the young age of 12 and at the age of 72 he still misses his mom. My sisters and I treasure the stories he shares about his mother. These stories are our only memories of her, but even in her absence, we have learned such great things from her. Through my Father's eyes, from his heart to ours, we feel and miss her too.

Some mothers have completed their missions here on earth and have taken on their next assignment with the Creator. They are missed dearly and their spirits will live forever in our hearts. Through The Mother series, I am acknowledging all our mothers, grandmothers, play mamas, aunts, sisters, friends, and anyone who has mothered someone. Let us not forget the brave men who are also standing in the mothering role.

The Mother series is an addition to the Mother/Child Image created for MOMSWEB, which shares the reality of motherhood. MW encourages and edifies mothers across the country on the value of their powerful and influential role.

Please join SHEDRICKSTUDIO as I hold hands with MOMSWEB, founded by LaVender Shedrick Williams, my little sister, as we acknowledge the role and strength of the Mother through The Mother series. We invite you to visit our websites to view the beautiful new images. The Mother series will speak to your heart and give honor to all mothers.

Happy Mother's Day Today and Everyday!
